Is the LORD a man?

It is necessary to follow up to the last post regarding Numbers 23:19 which says God is not a man (Heb. ish) because while God is not a man, the Son of God is.

Numbers 23:19 speaks of God as “El” which is short for “Elohim” in Hebrew. It does not use the name “Yahweh” which is often translated the LORD. Why is this distinction important? For two reasons. First, in Exodus 15:3 the literal Hebrew says, “The LORD[Heb. Yahweh] is a man[Heb. ish] of war; the LORD[Yahweh] is his name.” Secondly, the Son of God is a man. But there is more to it than that.

Jesus was born of Mary and thus became a son of Adam. This is why he referred to himself repeatedly as “the son of man”. Once killed and resurrected, he became a man of heaven. Where he previously took on earthly flesh, the dirt of Adam, who carnally is no different than a worm or maggot (Psalm 22:6) he now took on the immortal substance of heaven.

The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.  (1 Corinthians 15:47)

By this he paved the way as a “forerunner” for all sons of Adam to become just like him.

where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf… (Hebrews 6:20)

Whose behalf?

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (Romans 8:29)

This is the true man. What we are right now is dirt. We are sons of Adam. We are worms. We are maggots. We are not true men. We are half-true men. We are partly true men. The inward reborn man is that new man groaning to be released from his prison of worm-flesh.

But not only they, but we ourselves also who have the first fruit of the Spirit, even we ourselves are groaning in ourselves, waiting for our sonship, that is, the redemption of our body. (Romans 8:23 Modern Literal Version)

This is “man talk” for those who don’t know. It is not “salvation talk” for women are saved through repentance and baptism (or spousal sanctification per 1 Cor. 7:14) as well. The promise of the inheritance of heavenly manhood as you would hopefully figure, is specific to men. We await redemption of our manhood. He started us in the dirt with the intention of taking us all the way to the spiritual, the heavens. The very stars of heavens. Christ in the resurrected body is not a woman but a man and thus reveals to us an immortal, imperishable, incorruptible manhood.

The promise of resurrected glory for women is the same as that of their Firstborn Sister who herself was chosen out of the world and adorned as a “bride of heaven”…..

The bride of heaven should not ever, ever, ever think to take the son of God’s place.

An unbeliever is sanctified through a believing spouse. For a believing wife however she is sanctified through her believing husband (Ephesians 5:26). A believing man is not sanctified by his wife. Not ever. A believing man is either enduring the special cross laid out just for him and growing up “unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children [lit. infants]” (Ephesians 4:13-14 KJV). If he does not grow up he remains in infancy and a thus a perpetual misery to his wife. His wife cannot teach him or disciple him to the maturity he is called to. However, a wife is discipled by her husband to spiritual maturity. Therefore if the wife is a misery to her husband it is because he is stuck in immaturity himself and not teaching her jack-diddly-squat or she is a rebellious wife.
