I.       Justice and judgement is the foundation of God’s throne and at the heart of his glory.[1] God requires just weights, just measures, and just balances in all of man’s jurisprudence without respect to persons, whether small or great,[2] relative or foreigner,[3] rich or poor.[4]

II.       No injustice, small nor great, shall be unaccounted for, but all actions will be brought into judgement and weighed against His standard of justice alone in the Last Day.[5] In times past and in his Church, God has appointed overseers to be responsible for making judgements of justice, by the grace of His wisdom, among his people.[6] Nonetheless, retribution and recompense are repaid exclusively by the Lord. He alone is the judge of all the earth.

III.       We deny the worldly doctrine of social justice. The perversion of justice and the hatred of authority is the perversion of God’s glory, and thus abominable, for God is not a respecter of persons.[7] He does not show partiality to any person for any reason save his Son, Jesus Christ and those who are in Christ.[8]

[1] PSA 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.[2] DEU 1:17 You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone, for the judgment is God’s. And the case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.

[3] EXO 12:49 There shall be one law for the native and for the stranger who sojourns among you.” LEV 24:22 You shall have the same rule for the sojourner and for the native, for I am the LORD your God.

[4] LEV 19:15 You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

[5] REV 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

[6] DEUT 16:18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.” 2 CHR 1:10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great? 1 TIM 1:3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 6 Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion,

[7] 2 PET 2:10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones DEU 10:17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. ROM 2:11 For God shows no partiality. DEU 16:19 You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. JAM 2:1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? LEV 19:15 You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.
