I.         It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,[1] for the manifestation of the glory of who he is,[2] in the beginning to form the world,[3] and all things therein whether visible or invisible, in six days; and all very good.[4]

II.         After God had made all other creatures, He created humans, male and female,[5] with reasonable and immortal souls,[6] endowed with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, after His own image.[7] Having formed all things and creatures for glory, He purposed each to possess their own unique glory, the highest in creation being that of the man and woman.[8] The man and woman had the law of God written in their hearts,[9] and power to fulfil it;[10] and yet were under a possibility of breaking it, being left to the liberty of their own will, which was susceptible to change.[11] Beside this law written in their hearts, they received a command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil;[12] which while they kept, they were happy in their communion with God and enjoyed dominion over the creatures.[13] The man and woman were created lower than the angels in power and authority but through Christ’s redemption and according to God’s eternal purpose, are reborn into a higher state as sons and daughters of the Most High God.[14]

[1] HEB 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. JOH 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. GEN 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. JOB 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.[2] ROM 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. JER 10:12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. PSA 104:24 O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. 33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. 6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

[3] JOB 38:4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.

[4] All of Genesis 1; HEB 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. COL 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. ACT 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man

[5] GEN 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

[6] GEN 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. ECC 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. LUK 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. MAT 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

[7] GEN 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” COL 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. EPH 4:24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

[8] 1COR 15:38 But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. 38 For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. 40 There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. PSA 8:5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 1 COR 11:7 For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.

[9] ROM 2:14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them

[10] ECC 7:29 See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.

[11] GEN 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. ECC 7:29 See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.

[12] GEN 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.

[13] GEN 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

[14] HEB 2:9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. ROM 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 1 COR 6:3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! PSA 82:6 I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; JOH 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
